One evening in March of 2020, Eva was enjoying a glass (or a few) of wine with her friend Nicole over Facetime, as one did during COVID lockdown. As the evening progressed these two friends asked themselves the age old question, “where are all the good men in the world?”. It is here that our story begins! Eva was convinced to make a profile on the dating app, Hinge with little expectation of anything good to come out of this. Seeing as we’re here on our wedding website we can all probably guess that she was quite wrong (a rarity, I know).

 An hour away, sometime in early April, Shane was scrolling through his Hinge dating app and happened across a girl with long blonde hair and pink fuzzy jacket and decided to take a chance by liking her photo with the follow up, “What’s up Eva”... *swoon*. After a few messages back and forth, numbers were exchanged and conversation seemed to be going well until one night Shane got up the courage to try to Facetime Eva to which she declined. Shane was under no circumstances deterred by this and in response called Eva a coward (yes you read that right)!

 Meanwhile, in West Chester, Eva was at the dinner table with her family and announced, “that guy Shane I’ve been talking to just tried to Facetime me and when I declined it he called me a coward!”. Eva’s entire family thought this was the best thing they ever heard and insisted she call him back. Unfortunately, she did not but have no fear a “Facetime date” was scheduled for a few nights later and the two hit it off!

Here is where Shane and Eva hit another bump in their story. Not only did Shane live an hour from Eva, but with the lockdown in place, there was no light at the end of the tunnel as to when a real, in person date could take place. Shane, clearly being a man of great bravery, decided he would ask to come over to the Finnegan’s home and have dinner… with the whole family. “Are you sure?” Eva asked him as to her, this seemed like a completely crazy idea. “Absolutely, only way we’re going to find out if this will work!”.

 Two weeks later on May 1st, Shane drove an hour to West Chester and had dinner with the whole Finnegan family as their “first real date”. As if this wasn’t enough, Shane also asked Eva’s brother and father during a private conversation if he could date Eva (chivalry is not yet dead ladies). After receiving the okay from Connor and Todd and an overall successful first “date”, Shane and Eva scheduled their second date for another couple weeks later where Eva would go to the McIntyres for dinner. It is here that Eva proceeded to have far too much to drink and fall madly in love with the entire family.

Not even a month after their first date Shane asked Eva to be his girlfriend on May 28, 2020 and the rest is history… Until he got down on one knee a little over 4 years later on August 3, 2024, and the two had a blowout celebration with their families together in West Chester.
